‡ The stories my relatives told at family gatherings in my youth drew me to the field of genealogy. My research into my husband's Irish great grandfather, which began in 1974, turned genealogy into my passion.

I was a contributing author to the Biographical Directory of the South Dakota Legislature, 1889-1989 compiled by The South Dakota Legislative Research

Council, 1989 for the South Dakota Centennial Celebration. These two volumes are made up of biographical sketches of those who served in the state legislature of which I contributed the sketch on Roger Donahue, my husband’s Irish great grandfather.

I also enjoy helping to get others started in tracing their ancestry, especially young people. In January 1998 I accepted an invitation to speak to the Sisseton High School Advanced American History classes after my own teens were required to submit a four generation genealogy project.

I was certified through the Board for Certification of Genealogists from March 2005 through June 2010. During that time I had a variety of clients, both private and corporate and completed two family history books.

For the past 33 years, my personal research has been a source of great pleasure to me. I have traced the ancestors of my family as well as my husband’s, living several generations in South Dakota, Minnesota and the surrounding states. My research has led me through much of the United States and Europe. Recent projects have taken me as far west as California and Washington to as far east as New York and Connecticut.

I continue to do as much volunteer work as my schedule allows. That includes volunteering as a staff member at the Family History Center in Wahpeton, ND http://www.familysearch.org/ and for record look-ups in Roberts County, SD for Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness. http://www.raogk.com/
