 SEQ CHAPTER \h \r 1Research Contract

I hereby engage the research services of Joan M. Wieser, CG, as an independent contractor and authorize her to conduct research on my behalf, for an amount not to exceed $_____(minimum of 4 hours), as per my instructions (state briefly your research request):

I have provided to Mrs. Wieser all pertinent information on the subject to be researched, such as (including) all reports, summaries of previous research, copies of records, sources previously researched, family group sheets, pedigree charts, etc.  The following information is sensitive and/or private and should be handled accordingly:

Joan Wieser agrees to provide a detailed report, covering all sources checked during the research, with analysis, and a detailed report of time consumed and expenses incurred.  The report will be mailed to the client in a timely fashion and notification of any delays will be sent.

Joan Wieser retains copyright to the client report and the manner in which the information is expressed.  She will (shall) also retain the right of use for certification, articles, lectures, instruction and other accepted genealogical purposes.  Client may make limited numbers of (6) personal copies as a “fair use” (eliminate) of the copyrighted material; however client may not make multiple copies of the report, publish or distribute the report to others without advance written permission from Joan Wieser.  Client agrees that any information extracted from the report, including findings and conclusions, that are used in family histories, family group sheets, pedigrees, descendant reports or published or shared reports will credit Joan Wieser’s report as the source.

The client will be charged as follows:

$35.00 per hour, including pre-analysis, planning, research, analysis, and report.  Time is divided among these four function in approximately equal portions.  The client will be charged for the cost of microfilm rental, photocopies, photographs, postage, telephone calls and miscellaneous expenses.  Travel will be charged at half the hourly rate plus mileage at the current IRS rate.

Enclosed is a check or money order in the amount of $______ (minimum $140).  The fee will be held in escrow until commencement of the project.
